Laser Resurfacing in Kansas City

When Summer Goes Away, Lasers Come Out to Play

Summer may be gone, and your suntan may be fading, but now is the time to jump into laser treatment season. Did you know that getting laser treatments done during summer is unproductive? In fact, medical professionals rarely even offer these in summer months because patients will not see the results they want.

So once summer comes to an end and the trees start to turn, this is when medical offices and treatment centers begin to promote the resurfacing and collagen-building laser treatments they offer. And that includes us here at KC Skin and Cancer Center (KCSCC).

We offer services such as aesthetic facials, microneedling, skin cancer treatment, botox and fillers, and laser resurfacing in Kansas City. Laser resurfacing and other laser treatments are more popular this time of year as well, meaning that there’s no better time to learn about our various laser treatments.

What is Laser Resurfacing?

The Science

It is October! What does that have to do with lasers? Well, as soon as summer ends, lasers come back into season.

A laser treatment, whether it is resurfacing, collagen building, or ablative, will remove the top layer of skin from the treatment area. When done in summer, that new, freshly exposed skin will then be more likely to see direct sunlight. This is extremely painful and damaging to that delicate skin. Most procedures done for rebuilding healthy and smooth skin will not be completely successful when there is immediate exposure to the sun after a treatment. Therefore, it’s best to have laser treatments done in the cooler months to help prevent sun damage.

Our Process

Laser treatments in Kansas City are typically done over the course of several treatment sessions. We have an in-depth and immersive process that helps our patients feel valued. Your journey starts with a free consultation to get you on the right treatment plan. You will meet with one of our medical experts to learn what will be the best action plan for the results you want.

From there, you can get started with your laser treatments in the right order and frequency for your needs. With the right plan, your skin can be healed in time for the next summer season, leaving you ready to enjoy the sunshine once again.

Our Variety

But we don’t just offer one-size-fits-all laser resurfacing in Kansas City. We realize that everyone needs a different kind of treatment, and maybe even a varying number of sessions. So we personalize our treatment plans to each person who walks in for a consultation, potentially incorporating some of the following treatments:

Halo Laser

Using the Halo laser helps us remove those damaged outer layers and treat everything from wrinkles to discolored skin tones, resulting in a fresh, even surface.

The Halo laser is the only resurfacing procedure that combines ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to treat the skin. This technology maximizes the benefits of a laser treatment while also keeping post-procedure downtime to a minimum. See the maximum potential of Halo when you let your laser expert pair this with other treatments.

Ablative v. Non-Ablative

The Halo combines ablative and non-ablative lasers to renew the laser technology seen in the dermatology world.

Ablative lasers can be used on their own, but the purpose of this laser is to break and remove the outer layer of skin containing discolorations, wrinkles, etc. There is, of course, a reason doctors still use this technology, as it is highly effective at achieving a transformed skin surface. But this laser does have significant downtime and recovery.

In contrast, a non-ablative laser uses heating and cooling technology to achieve the same goals but with less downtime and recovery. It heats the surface of the skin without breaking it, and it encourages collagen production to help eliminate any discoloration and tighten the skin, adding a youthful glow.

So when these two are used together, they create a new form of laser resurfacing in Kansas City. We get the chance to give patients the results they want without the side effects of a long recovery or downtime.

Laser Genesis

Laser Genesis is a non-invasive procedure that uses a laser to gently heat the skin, producing new skin cells and building collagen. It can help smooth the skin and reduce the look of fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, or uneven skin tones.

The most revolutionary thing about Genesis is how little down time there is. We like to call it the “lunch-break laser” because patients can even come in during their lunch break, have this treatment done, and then head right back to work. In rare cases, there may be some redness or slight swelling, but otherwise this laser targets aging lines, rosacea, and more without side effects.

Mix & Match?

Here at KC Skin & Cancer Center, we not only give you recommendations based on your biggest symptoms and concerns, but your treatment plan will also include other suggested treatments that pair well with your main one.

For example, if you are recommended to get Halo laser treatment in KC, then you may also want to get the Forever Young BBL or the HydraFacial. These treatments pair very together and will get you excellent results on all accounts.

A medical professional applies the laser hair reduction device to a female client's right armpit. The client's face is halfway in view, and she is wearing protective goggles.

Or if you are getting the Laser Genesis done, you can pair it with the Halo laser to get maximum results. Many of our laser resurfacing treatments in Kansas City can mix and match with each other, putting you even closer to the results you’re after

So while you may have a treatment in mind, we can offer you an even better combination of treatments so you can feel even happier with the way your skin looks.
